HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-89-0524J-89-51.5 5/19/89 ff; RESOLUTION NO. i9_1?ra.. ,14 A RESOLUTION AMENDING SECTION 1 AND SECTION 4 OF RESOLUTION NO. 89-175, ADOPTED FEBRUARY 9, 1989 CONCERNING THE WYNWOOD FESTIVAL TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE WYNWOOD COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION THEREBY CHANGING THE DATE OF THE EVENT FROM APRIL 30, 1989 TO JULY 16, 1989. WHEREAS, the Wynwood Community Economic Development Corporation has requested that the date of the event be changed for the Wynwood Festival from April 30, 1989 to July 16, 1989; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section I. Section 1 and Section 4 of Resolution No. 89-175, adopted February 9, 1989, are hereby amended in the following particulars "Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage and establish a temporary pedestrian mall during the Wynwood Festival to be conducted by the Wynwood Community Economic Development Corporation, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic from 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. on —30r July 16, 1989, as specified below: Northwest Fifth Avenue from Northwest Twenty-ninth Street to Northwest Thirty-second Street. Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this Section." "Section 4. Pursuant to the provisions City Code Section 39-13, all retail peddlers' occupational licenses issued under the provisions of Chapter 31 of the City code, as amended, will not be valid on Afw44 34 July 16, 1989, during the hours of 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. on the above designated streets and on all l Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Corporation, Inc. BACKGROUND: The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate legislation concerning the change of date for the Wynwood Festival to be conducted by the Wynwood Community Economic Development Corporation, Inc. The organization had to change the date of the event from April 30, 1989 to July 16, 1989. Such closing of streets is subject. to State approval and the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the 1 Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety - and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and. religious institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said 3 zarterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's judgement predicated upon all factors eet forth herein. - 89--524 CITY COMMISSIOR MEETING OF tE6 9 1961% f. �: Section 3. Upon the issuance of a temporary permit by the Florida Department of Business Regulation, Division of Alcoholic Beverages 'and Tobacco, to sell beer and wine pursuant to City Code Section 54-12.1, the request of the organizer's to sell beer and wine for a one -day period in connection with the Wynwooci Festival is hereby granted subject to the issuance of all permits required by law. Section 4. Pursuant to the provisions of City Code Section 39-;13 all retail peddlers' occupational licenses issued under the provisions of Chapter 31 of the City 0(4e, as amended, will not be valid on April 30, 1989, during the hours of 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. on the above designated streets and on all intersecting :. streets for two blocks in all directions. t Section 5. Such authorizations are hereby conditioned upon the organizers paying for all costs of City services associated s with said event and the requirement 'that the City be insured against any potential liability.
