ENCLOSURES:
M City Manager
It is respectfully recommended that a resolution be passed
authorizing the purchase of a CrimeSceneSketching System and an
Accident Reconstruction System at an approximate post of
($11,510), funding to be from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund,
Project No. 690001, Index Code 290904-996.
The Miami Police Department's Criminal Identification and
Accident Investigation Units are responsible for the recreation
of crime and accident scenes, primarily through sketches. These
drawings are currently accomplished in freehand by I.D.
technicians, police officers and public service aids. There is a
need for the Police Department to be able to reproduce crime and
accident scene sketches to scale for court room presentation. The
requested equipment is state of the art and will increase the
speed and accuracy of producing a crime scene and accident
diagram to scale.
Because of the physical location of the two units within the
police department and the amount of sketches that each unit
produces it is not possible for one system to be shared by both
units.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution authorizing the
purchase of the Computerized Crime Scene Sketching Systems, at an
approximate cost of ($11,510), funding to be from the Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 290904-
996, be approved.
