i 0 �j J 89-.894 9-15-89 (M. 89-295) 3/23/89 RESOLUTION NO. 89—'858 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE AND INSTALL WELCOME SIGNS THAT WILL IDENTIFY THE ENTRANCE TO CITY NEIGHBORHOODS IN THE ALLAPATTAH, EDISON-LITTLE RIVER, LITTLE HAVANA, MODEL CITY, OVERTOWN AND WYNWOOD COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TARGET AREAS; ALLOCATING FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $12,540 FROM THE "ELEVENTH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ALLOCATION" TO BE EXPENDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE CITY CODE PROVISIONS FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF SAID SIGNS. WHEREAS, at the March 23, 1989 City Commission Meeting, Motion No. 89-295 was adopted authorizing the City Manager to construct welcome signs which would identify the entrance to City neighborhoods in the Allapattah, Edison -Little River, Little Havana, Model City, Overtown and Wynwood Community Development target areas; and WHEREAS, funds are available from the "lath Year Community Development Block Grant Allocation" in the amount of $12,540 to pay for the cost of the purchase and installation of said signs; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. The expenditure of funds in an amount not to exceed $12,540 hereby allocated from the "filth Year Community Development Block Grant Allocation," is hereby authorized in accordance with applicable City Code provisions, for the purchase and installation of six (6) welcome signs which will identify the entrance to City neighborhoods in the Allapattah, Edison -Little River, Little Havana, Model City, Overtown and Wynwood Community Development target areas. BACKGROUND: The Department of Community Development and Public Works have identified six neighborhoods that will receive signs welcoming motorists at the entrance to each neighborhood. City neighborhoods receiving these signs include the Allapattah, Edison -Little River, Little Havana, Model City, Overtown and Wynwood Community Development target areas. The estimated cost for the purchase and installation of the six (6) signs is $12,540 and funding is available from the Ill 1th Year Community Development Block Grant Allocation".
