RE: Film Permit in Coconut Grove

As per the recommendation of the City Manager, the Coconut Grove
Chamber of Commerce requests to be on the September City
Commission Agenda. Enclosed is the format which has been
reviewed and revised by a committee consisting of: Special
Events Police Department, representative Harvey Bach; Film
Permit Coordinator, George Detrio; Off- Street Parking
representative, Danny Rosemond, and Coconut Grove Chamber of
Commerce representatives.

The Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with Miami Police and
Off - Street Parking Department has undertaken to assist in
coordinating filming in the commercial district of Coconut
Grove, in order to facilitate the use of this area as a
"location" with minimum interference to the businesses of its
members. Upon receipt of your City of Miami "Film Permit
Application" and payment of a service charge of $100.00, the
Chamber will contact its members in the filming area, request
their permission to utilize the public right of way adjacent to
their businesses and report back to the Police Department
Special Events Office.

The Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with Miami Police and
Off - Street Parking Department has undertaken to assist in
coordinating filming in the commercial district of Coconut
Grove, in order to facilitate the use of this area as a
"location" with minimum interference to the businesses of its
members. Upon receipt of your City of Miami "Film Permit
Application" and payment of a service charge of $100.00, the
Chamber will contact its members in the filming area, request
their permission to utilize the public right of way adjacent to
their businesses and report back to the Police Department
Special Events Office.
All production crews must strictly adhere to the following rules
and regulations:
1. All loading zones within the District shall be kept clear
of all vehicles and equipment at all times without specific
permission from the Chamber and Miami Police.
2. A minimum of five (5) feet of sidewalk must be kept clear
for pedestrian traffic. No film crew tables or chairs
shall be placed in the pedestrian right of way (sidewalk).
3. Receipt of purchase from the Department of Off - Street
Parking must be obtained for capped meters. No more than
five (5) meters may be capped at any one time. Meters
should only remain capped for the time period necessary as
listed in the application form.
4. Vehicular traffic in the filming area may not be interfered
with without proper police permits and off duty officers.
5. Access to businesses may not be blocked without written
permission from the owner or manager of such businesses.
(The permission of an employee is not acceptable).
6. The operation of stationary gas or diesel engines, other
than one blimped generator, is prohibited (i.E. motor
homes, trucks, etc).
7. Food service and portable restrooms shall not be located in
the public right of way (either the street or sidewalk)
within the District. Arrangements should be made for the
utilization of private property,'such as existing parking
lots.)
8. No trees, landscaping or vegetation shall be cut, broken or
otherwise damaged, including damage caused by heat
generating equipment.
9. Black decorative lamp posts shall not be used for sign
posts, area restriction lines or the support of any
equipment.
