The Young Professionals Group of Coconut Grove hereby
makes the following request of the City of Miami. That Grand
Avenue also co -exist as Frankie Rolle Blvd. within the
boundaries of McDonald St. to the east and Douglas Road to the
west. This request is made in light of the many contributions and
selflessness of Mrs Frankie Shannon Rolle. In September, 1946,
Mrs Rolle became a teacher at the George Washington Carver
Junior - Senior High School Coconut Grove. The school served black
students from Florida City to Coconut Grove, from grades one
through twelve. She has served the Coconut Grove community for
more than forty years, first as an educator /guidance counselor
later as a member of numerous community interest groups. She is
known as a person who gets things done, not for self, but for
others. Please find enclosed on the following page a brief
summary of the noteworty accomplishments of a true lady of
distinction. Therefore, the members of the Young Professionals
Group of Coconut Grove respectfully request that City of Miami
Honor Mrs. Frankie S. Rolle by dedicating Grand Avenue as FRANKIE
S. ROLLE BLVD.

Lady Frankie Rolle, an outstanding citizen of Dade County and Florida continues to pay for the i.
space she occupies. She has devoted the major portion of her adult life working with educational f`
social, political and religious projects that have vicariously enhanced the status of women. She

is aself- starter leader who is respected and admired by all that know her.

Frankie, a graduate of Stanton High School, Jacksonville, Florida, received her Bachelor of
Science Degree from Florida A & M University in Health and Physical Education. In 1979,
she was inducted into the University's Sports Hall of Fame. Her Master of Science Degree in
Guidance was earned from Indiana Univeristy at Bloomingdale, Indiana, Professionally she
has dedicated forty -one years working with youth in Dade County Schools.
MTs. Rolle's current and past organizational involvement include: President of American
Legion Post 182 Auxiliary, President of Florida A & M Alumni Association Miami Gold
Coast Chapter, Past Bailus of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority -BTZ Chapter, Member of Indiana
