HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-89-0953J-89-1027 10/12/89 RESOLUTION NO. a9-953 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE USE OF CERTAIN STREETS AND THOROUGHFARES DURING THE HURRICANE 5K HISPANIC HERITAGE RACE HELD OCTOBER 14, 1989 CONDUCTED BY THE GREATER MIAMI RUNNING ASSOCIATION; SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CONTROL TRAFFIC FLOW ON THE STREETS TO BE UTILIZED AS PART OF THE RACE COURSE; FURTHER CONDITIONED UPON ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND THE REQUIREMENT THAT THE CITY WILL BE INSURED AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL LIABILITY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: j Section 1. The use of certain streets and thoroughfares in Little Havana from 8:010 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. on October 14, 1989 i during the Hurricane 5K Hispanic Heritage Race, to be conducted by the Greater Miami Running Association is hereby authorized, -�' subject to the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services, as specified below: One lane only of Southwest Eighth Street only from Southwest Sixteenth Avenue to Southwest Fifth Avenue. Southwest Fourth Avenue from Southwest Third Street to Southwest Sixth Street. Southwest Sixth Street from Southwest Fourth Avenue to Southwest Sixteenth Avenue. Southwest Sixteenth Avenue from Southwest Sixth Street to Southwest Eighth Street. Southwest Fifth Avenue from Southwest Eighth Street to Southwest Sixth Street. Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this Section. Section 2. The Police Department is hereby authorized to control traffic flow on the streets to be utilized as part of the Section 3. Such authorization is hereby conditioned upon the organizers paying for all costs of City services associated with said event and the requirement that the City be insured against any potential liability. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of October , 1989. I seek authorization for use of city streets for a running event scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on 14 October 1989. The 5 Kilometer run starts and finishes at Jose Marti Park and should last no more then one hour. Arrangements to ensure the participants safety and minimal interruption of normal traf- fic flow have been made. These include off -duty police, traffic cones and barricades. Inadvertently this matter was not processed in the normal fashion. I apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
