Albert Ruder City of Miami Parks and Public Facilities 1501 N.W. 3rd St. Miami FL Dear Mr.Ruder, NMMA Boat Shows is once again requesting your department's assistance in directing the Park and Ride on Watson Island for the 1990 Miami.International Boat Show. The Park and Ride has be come an integral part of our boat show. Last year's Park and Ride proved to be most successful one to date. Over 7,000 cars utilized this service. I would also like to add that Pauline Mumford and Bob Fraizer did an excellent job in supervision and direction of this project. I look forward to working with them again in the future. The Miami International Boat Show has been calling Miami home for forty-nine years. Even though two thirds of the boat show is held on Miami Beach (the other third being held at the Biscayne Bay Marriott Marina) both Miami and the greater Miami area benefits economically from it. Estimated 30,000 room nights are booked at all major area hotels. Estimated so million dollars is pumped into the greater Miami economy. Additional 150 million dollars in sales to local marine dealers -and manufacturers. The Miami international Boat Show is the largest boat show held in the United States and North America. The Miami International Boat Show is the largest Trade show held in Florida and the loth largest in the United States. Emore... CEIVE. Every weekend there are - --- — thousands of vehicles using the causeway over to Miami Beach. The only location where lanes were restricted were at the entrance to the parking area, which is a good distance from the island entrances. Without *the Park and Ride more vehicles would have •.:;». " `---• been on the causeway and would only further hinder access to the residential areas of the causeway. At'this time the NMMA is requesting that this topic of discussion be placed on the agenda for the October meeting. In the past years we have not been given a signed contract until right before the show. I an hoping this year we can have everything signed by December 1. I , The previous three years we have had a yearly agreement, we are now prepared to request a long term agreement. The length of this agreement can be entirely up to yours or the commission's selection. Again as always I look forward to your cooperation and assistance. Should you have any questions regarding this matter please do not hesitate to call. Yours y, Dave Schwer Operations Manager Miami International Boat Show cc: Kevin Smith
