Your request for 7.3 million dollars from the state of Florida's
Public Education Capital Outlay (PESCO) to acquire, develop and
provide long term employment for Miami's Historic Overtown Folklife
Village has been received.
Overtown is known throughout the state for its rich history and
established traditions. For nearly 50 years it was the cradle 'of
business and culture for Blacks in South Florida.
As a regional tourist attraction the village has the potential of
providing opportunities for long term employment in mixed use
creative environment.
I encourage your staff to keep in close contact with my office
througtioUt the progression of this project.
