HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-89-1086J-89-1188 I 11/30/89 i{%�■■ `4 8 Y Y RESOLUTION NO.�� A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY PARADE TO BE HELD JANUARY 15. 1990 PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES AND THE REQUIREMENT THAT THE CITY BE 3 INSURED AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL LIABILITY; CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR THE NECESSARY COST OF CITY SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during the Martin Luther King Day Parade, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic from 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. on January 15, 1990 as specified below: Northwest Sixty-second Street from Northwest Eighth Avenue to Northwest Seventeenth Avenue. Northwest Eighth Avenue from Sixty-first Street to Sixty- fourth Street. Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this Section. Section 3. Such closing of streets is subject to State approval and the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety— and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said f arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's y q judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein. The herein authorization is hereby conditioned upon the organizers obtaining insurance requirements as mandated by the City of Miami and paying for all costs of City services agaodiated with said event beyond any coats that may be allocated by the city. Commission on September 14, 1989. The Martin Luther King Parade will be held January 15, 1990. We are requesting the following: Street closures (Northwest 62 Street from Northwest 8th Avenue to city limits). We are also requesting the cost of•city services, including insurance costs. In previous years city services for Police, Fire and Solid Waste were provided on -duty by city personnelo.+' - Additionally, we are requesting an"additional cash grant of $20,000 to cover other expenses associated with the parade and activities.
