A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING OF THE DADS-MIAMI CRIMINAL JUSTICE COUNCIL, IN THE AMOUNT OF $35,000, AND ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR, FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND- UPON SUCH COSTS HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE. WHEREAS, Florida State Statute 932.704(3)(a), as amended, authorizes the expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for law enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and WHEREAS, the Dade -Miami Criminal Justice Council is engaged in the formulation of policies that affect all local municipal police departments; and WHEREAS, the funding for the Council is obtained from all areas of the Criminal Justice System; and WHEREAS, these funds will provide for the equivalent of one i full-time professional planner position; and - WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for the Dade -Miami Criminal Justice Council have not been included in the Police Department's normal operating budget; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of - this resolution and has determined that the expenditures proposed comply with Florida State Statute 932.704, as amended; and WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for this program are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund; - NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY M1' OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The authorization to fund the Dade -Miami Criminal Justice Council, in an amount not to exceed $35,000, funding to be provided from the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 029002-247, is hereby approved.
