A RESOLUTION, WITH ATTACHMENT, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXTEND THE EXISTING AGREEMENT, WITH THE PUBLIC HEALTH TRUST OF DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, WHICH OPERATES JACKSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, FOR THE COORDINATION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE RESCUE DIVISION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES DEPARTMENT, SAID EXTENSION TO BE FOR AN ADDITIONAL PERIOD OF NINETY (90) DAYS UP TO MARCH 1, 1990. WHEREAS, the City and the Public Health Trust of Dade County, Florida, which operates Jackson Memorial Hospital, desire to cooperate to provide services in connection with the Emergency Medical Services provided by the Rescue Division of the City of Miami Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department; and WHEREAS, on December 16, 1987, the City and the Public Health Trust of Dade County, Florida which operates Jackson Memorial Hospital, entered into the attached agreement for the - coordination of the Emergency Medical Services provided by the Rescue Division of the City of Miami Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department, said Agreement being for a period of two (2) years, 1987/88 and 1988/89, with an annual compensation of $40,000 for the first year and $44,000 for the second year, with - funds being provided in the Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department's General Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, funds will be provided in the Fire, Rescue and - Inspection Services Department's General Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, City Commission is desirous of extending said 'F agreement for a period of ninety (90) days up to March 1, 1990; _ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITYIM - OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: MEMO SL E rATTACHra OV Y Con, Coll p., { } ,k%x��,i " �yy` 1 Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to extend the existing attached agreement, with the Public Health Trust of Dade County, Florida, which operates Jackson Memorial Hospital, for the coordination of.the Emergency Medical Services provided by the Rescue Division of the City of Miami Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department, said extended agreement to run for an additional period of ninety (90) days to March 1, 1990, with funds to be provided in the Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department's General Operating Budget. That all paramedical personnel assigned to advanced life support vehicles will be approved by the Medical Direotor and the Chief of the Messue Division. 3• To provide to the Medical Director a list of equipment carried on the advanced life support vehAales which shall be in accordance with the equipment required by regulations of the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services and the State of llorida Statutes 401 and HIS Rules IOD•66. 4. To carry said equipment on all fire rescue vehicles used. — In the event that the Medical Director determines that the equipment listed does not most the requirements of the regulations, the CITY agrees that it will innediatoly take the necessary action to brine the equipment carried _ on the. advanced life support vehicles into coapliano• —_ with th`o regulations• C. It is further provide& that in no event shall the agents, aostractors, officers, servants or employee• of the CITY' be considered to be agents, officers, servants or -- employees of the TRUSS. Odio City Manager ENCLOSURES: I RECOMMEMDATIOM: It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution be passed authorizing an agreement between the City of Miami and Public Health Trust. Compensation is set at $48,400 for the period - October 1, 1989 thru September 309 1990, and $53,240'for the period October 19 1990 thru September 30, 1991. This represents - an increase of 10% in cost per year over the previous agreement.
