APPROVED AS TO FORM AND 'PORRECTNESS: December 6, 1989 The Honorable J. L. Plummer City Commission, City of Miami City Hall Miami, FL RE: "Little Havana" (The Movie) 13. 6 V 6 t! ; 11A, JA J000 Dear Commissioner Plummer: We respectfully request your assistance with the City Commission regarding a waiver of City of Miami Ordinance #9540 for the night of Wednesday, December 13th. We have been filming the movie "Little Havana" a sysopsis of same is attached for your information. We believe that his movie will be a positive image of Miami and the Cuban Community in general. Because of actor availability and the expense involved in filming the final spectacular sequence for this film we need to film all night on Wednesday in order to complete the film with Mr. Jimmy Smits. We have received a permit from the Miami Fire Department (No. 179-89) and we have coordinated with the assistance of Tim Chapman (on loan to us from the Miami Herald), and the Downtown Development Authority the lighting of the entire Downtown area for the night of the filming. In order to complete filming we may need to have Class Three Aerial Displays of fireworks intermittently throughout the night. Class Three Displays are not the loud booms normally associated with fireworks. We have chosen these as we do not want the noise on our sound tracks but visually need the light and the look of the aerial displays. You may discuss the noise factor with Lt. Dan Meadows from the City at 350-7828. The City of Miami will be spectacularly displayed in this sequence of the film and will receive benefit by having film makers see how beautiful this City is on film. We are a clean industry and employ thousands of people during a film. Your assistance in this respect will help us to continue to encourage the film industry in your City. Would you please bring up this item today as a pocket item before the City C ission? Your assistance in this regard will be appreciated by the Cast an Crew of "Little Havana". n at4ons yja;&ger jk0T1:J 89►-1112 64o S.
