RESOLUTION NO. 89-1095
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF AAA COURTS
INC. FOR THE RESURFACING OF TENNIS AND
BASKETBALL COURTS AT FIVE (5) CITY PARKS FOR
THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, RECREATION AND
PUBLIC FACILITIES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$38,963.65; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 313318,
ACCOUNT CODE NO. 589301-860; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF
PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER
FOR THIS SERVICE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received November 1, 1989 for the resurfacing of tennis and
basketball courts at five (5) City Parks for the Department of
Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to eleven (11) potential
suppliers and four (4) bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from Capital
Improvement Project No. 313318, Account No. 589301-860; and
WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of
Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities for the purpose of
resurfacing twelve (12) tennis and basketball courts at five (5)
City parks; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department
of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities recommend that the bid
received from AAA Courts, Inc. be accepted as the lowest
responsible and responsive bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2 The November 1, 1989 bid of AAA Courts, Inc. for
the resurfacing of tennis and basketball courts at five (5) City
parks for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public
Facilities, in an amount not to exceed $38,963.65, is hereby
accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from Capital
Improvement Project No. 313318, Account No. 589301-860.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a Purchase Order
for this service.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

Bids submitted past such deadline and/or submitted to any other

rejected.
Ordinance No. 10538 established a goal of Awarding 51% of the
City's total dollar volume of all expenditures for All Goods and
Services to Black, Hispanic and Women Minority Business
Enterprises on an equal basis.
Minority and women vendors who are interested in submitting bids
and who are not registered with the City as minority or women
vendors are advised to contact the City of Miami Minority/Women
Business office, Dupont Plaza Center, 300 Biscayne Boulevard Way,
Suite 400, Telephone 579-3366.
Detail i specifications for the bids are available upon request
at the City Procurement office, 1390 N.W. 20th Street, Second

The City Manager may reject all bids and readvertise.

Reconsendat i on :
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution accepting the bid and awarding the contract
for the Resurfacing of Tennis and Basketball Courts at five (5)
City Parks to AAA Courts, Inc., a non -minority vendor and the
lowest responsive and responsible bidder, at a total cost of
$38,963.65, and allocating funds from Capital Project No. 331318
Citywide Court Renovations.
Background:
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities has
analyzed the bids received for the Resurfacing of seven (7)
Tennis Courts and five (5) Basketball Courts at five (5) City
Parks: Grapeland, Kinloch, Eaton, Southside and Range. The bid
specifications and conditions called for successful bidder to
provide all labor, materials and equipment necessary for the
work, which includes surface preparation, layering of asphaltic
concrete or fiberglass membranes, plexiglass sealant and
restriping. AAA Courts, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive and
responsible bid covering twelve (12) individual courts at the
five parks, as part of the Citywide Neighborhood Park Renovation
Program.
