SUBJECT : Resolution For The Purchase of
16 Communication Headset -
Systems -
REFERENCES:
ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that a resolution be passed for
the purchase of 16 communication headset systems at a total cost
of $6,240. Funding is to be from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund.
The Miami Police Department S.W.A.T. Team negotiates in hostage
situations and performs other tactical operations where it is
imperative for them to be able to communicate effectively. The
proposed communication systems would give the officers the
ability to communicate with each other without alarming the
offender by not speaking louder than a whisper. It further allows
the freedom of both hands during radio transmission. This will
provide safety for officers, hostages and offenders by reducing,
the possibility of detection in crucial life threatening
situations.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution authorizing the
purchase of 16 Communication headset systems, at a total cost of
$6,240 funding to be from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project
No. 690001, Index Code 290904-996, be approved.
