ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution allocating funds
for an Officer Friendly Program, at a cost of $27,500, be
approved.
BACKGROUNQ
The Police Department's Officer Friendly Program would promote
the Police Officer as a role model to the City of Miami citizens
and create an awareness of the different duties and services
offered by the Department. Presentations, station tours, and
distribution of materials to schools, day care centers, elderly
sites and civic groups.would be a tool to accomplish this goal.
The Program will target at least 100 youngsters affording them
the opportunity to attend programs at Vizcaya and the Space
Planetarium. Field trips would also be planned for an additional
500 youngsters.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution authorizing the
establishment of the Officer Friendly Program, and allocating
funds therefor in the amount of $27,500 funding to be provided
from the Law Enforcement' Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index
Code 029002-247, be approved.
