AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "DADE COUNTY EMS GRANT AWARD (FY'89)", APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF SAME IN THE AMOUNT OF $283,997, CONSISTING OF A $283097 GRANT APPORTIONED BY METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES UNDER THE "FLORIDA EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES GRANT PROGRAM FOR COUNTIES" AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE AFOREMENTIONED GRANT AWARD AND ENTER INTO THE NECESSARY CONTRACT AND/OR AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES AND/OR METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services is authorized by chapter 401, Part II, Florida Statutes, to provide grants to boards of county commis.sioners to improve and expand pre -hospital emergency medical services; WHEREAS, it is the intent of the members of the Dade Board of County Commissioners that the 1989-90 funding for Dade County from the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, "Florida Emergency Medical Services Grant Program for Counties" be apportioned and passed through to participating municipal fire departments for individual projects; WHEREAS, the City of Miami Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services' Work Plan has been approved by Dade County and now desires to implement the following projects under a total grant appropriation of $283,997: (1) Computerized Protocols and Procedures Tracking System - $45,000; (2) Vehicle Accident Prevention and Training Program - $14,000; (3) Priority Dispatching System Evaluation and Training - $13,220; (4) Purchase of EMS Equipment - $171,777; (5) Basic Aid Training Program - $40,000; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA; Section 1. The following New Special Revenue Fund is hereby established and resources are hereby appropriated as described herein: AMENDED 0 FUND TITLE: DADE COUNTY EMS GRANT AWARD (FY189) RESOURCES: STATE OF FLORIDA: DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES: FLORIDA EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES GRANT PROGRAM FOR COUNTIES: METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY $283,997 APPROPRIATION: DADE COUNTY EMS GRANT AWARD $283097 Section 2. This Appropriation is contingent upon approval of a grant application by Metropolitan Dade County and the State of Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services and the City Manager's acceptance thereof. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the grant as set forth in the preamble to this ordinance and to enter into the necessary contract and/or agreement to accept this grant. Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 5. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this ordinance shall not be affected.
