A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO ASSIST IN OBTAINING A FIVE-DAY LIQUOR PERMIT FOR THE FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT AND HOTEL EXPOSITION, INC., FOR THE DISPLAY BY MANUFACTURERS OR DISTRIBUTORS OF PRODUCTS LICENSED UNDER THE STATE BEVERAGE LAW, AS WELL AS AUTHORIZE CONSUMPTION OF SUCH BEVERAGES ON THE PREMISES OF THE COCONUT GROVE CONVENTION CENTER, MIAMI, FLORIDA, FROM JULY 5--91 1990. WHEREAS, the City Commission's approval, pursuant to law, is requested to authorize the City Attorney to assist in obtaining a five-day liquor permit for the Florida International Restaurant and Hotel Exposition, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the State Beverage Director requires the request for approval of the permit issuance to emanate from the City Commission for liquor display and consumption during the herein Exposition to be held at the Coconut Grove Convention Center in July, 1990; and WHEREAS, Section 561.421 TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS, the State Beverage Law, states that in convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of county commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than five calendar days for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only; NOW, THEREFORE mot:. .i Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Attorney is hereby authorized to assist in obtaining a five-day liquor permit for the Florida International Restaurant and Hotel Exvosition. Inc. for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law as well as for consumption of such beverages on the premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida, from July 5-9, 1990. (Lessee's request attached.) BkCKGROUND : The Department of Conferences and Conventions has prepared the attached legislation. ENCLOSURES: Is is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution ratifying, approving and confirming the award of a bid for the purchase of 450 litter containers. This purchase will be made under City Bid #89--90-019 from Granart, Inc. at a total cost of $143,550.00. BACKGROUNDa The Department of Solid Waste determined the need for a litter container replacement program after numerous requests and meetings with various local Chambers of Commerce, Downtown Development Authority and Community Organizations. Additionally, it is the purpose of the department to invest in a litter container that would be durable, withstand the inclement weather that exist in South Florida as well as aesthetically suitable for the community in which they will be placed.
