CITf OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM To: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission FROM . AesarIi. Odio City Manager Recommendation: CA-3 GATE : FILE Q E C 2 1989 SUBJECT Resolution to Set Dockage Fee at Miamarina for Inter- national Boat Show REFERENCES. ENCLOSURES It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution establishing a special dockage fee of $0.60 per linear foot per day for the use of available slips at Miamarina by guests and participants of the Miami International Boat Show during the period February 11 through 23, 1990. Background: The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities has prepared the attached legislation. For the last two years, the City has established a special dockage fee for the use of available slips at the Miamarina during the Miami International Boat Show. The Biscayne Bay Marriott Hotel and Marina has again requested the City to extend this privilege for the 1990 show. The Director has recommended a fee of $0.60 per foot per day for each available slip. It should be noted that this rate is 10 cents higher than last year's special rate, due to the Department's increased operating costs. This rate is also equal to the transient rate charged at Dinner Key Marina.. It is estimated that approximately ninety (90) slips may be available during the requested period February 11 - 23. The event sponsors will comply with all required procedures, including the execution of the customary dockage agreements, and has agreed to provide a deposit for the dockage fees. This event has been very successful in the past, bringing in more than $20,000 to the Miamarina revenues in 3989. For this reason, and for the exposure received by this facility and City as a whole, it is recommended that the aforementioned fee be established.
