HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-90-0117J-Y90-74 1/26/90 9.0-0117 RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION SELECTING A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GENERAL EMPLOYEES' AND SANITATION EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT TRUST AS PROVIDED FOR IN CITY CODE SECTION 40-227 FOR A SPECIFIED TERM OF OFFICE. WHEREAS, a vacancy needs to be filled on the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust Board of Trustees with a term of office as specified herein; WHEREAS, under City Code Section 40-227 (A)(1)(d), the City Commission shall select the person to fill such vacancy from a list of six persons submitted by the Miami General Employees Association, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME); and WHEREAS, the names of the following persons appear on the list which has been duly submitted by AFSCME: Jay Cohen, Cesar Eduardo Stone. Hector Serrano, Marshall Litvak, Ann Ratterree, and Ani McCown; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following individual is hereby selected a member of the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust Board of Trustees to serve a term of office expiring November 30, 1991: HECTOR SERRANO Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. BACKGROUND: City of Miami Code Section 40-227 (Ordinance No. 3 10002), provides for . the appointment of a nine member board of trustees to administer and manage the retirement plan known as the "City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust". Of these nine members, one io to be selected by the City Manager, two by the general em loyees (AFSCME bargaining unit), and two by the sanitation employees SEA bargaining unit). Four independent trustees, who are � not City employees, are to be selected by the City Commission. Two -J j of such trustees shall be selected from a list of six persons submitted by the AFSCME according to its constitution and bylaws, and two such trustees shall be selected by the SEA according to its constitution and bylaws. Mr. Charlie Cox, President of the A.F.S.C.M.E., has submitteda. list of six names (see copy attached) for consideration as a replacement of Mr. Simon Ferro who has resigned his membership on the Pension Board. Mr. Ferro's term of office would have ended as of November 30, 1989.
