FROM : REFERENCES. Victor H. De Yurre i)f Commissioner ENCLOSURES: Please include as a discussion item on the February 14, 1990 City Commission agenda an update regarding the negotiations between TCI and Sports Channel. (See attached letter) Thank you. cc: Honorable Mayor and Commissioners Aurelio Perez-Lugones, Legislative Administrator 44 AdINW. CIlfnl January 16, 1990 Commissioner Victor DeYurre City of.Miami City HS11 3500 loran American Drive Miami, Florida 33133 Dear Commissioner DeYurre: I'm confidant I speak on behalf of the thousands of Miami Heat and University of Miami Hurricane fans who reside in the City of Miami when I say 'thank you" for your direct involvement in making SportsChannel's coverage of these teams available on Miami Cablevision, Inc. Clearly your action has forced the Tele-Communications, Inc. hierarchy to take Immediate action in resolving their owls disregard for the desires of the community. As we discussed, the Chairman of TCI, Dr. John Malone, met with the Vice-Chairman'of our company of January 9th. While our management felt the meeting provided a good beginning, I was surprised when TCI executives stated for the record, that SportsChannel Florida would be added in 30 to 60 days. Your request for an update in 30 days should shed light on the true intentions of TCI's claim. I would appreciate it if your office would notify me on the date of TCI's update. I promise I will be in attendance and willing to offer the Commissioners SportsChannel'n version of TCI's claims. Again, your actions are greatly appreciated. Y, H.
