SUBJECT Resolution For, The Purchase of
an X-Ray Machine
REFERENCES
ENCLOSURES
It is respectfully recommended that a resolution be passed for
the purchase of an X-Ray Machine at an estimated cost of $5,300.
Funding is to be from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund.
I-0-J411"W"26111UPIR
The Miami Police Department is responsible for responding to
calls involving suspicious packages or bomb threats. With the
recent out break of terrorist attacks and bombings it has become
apparent that the officers must use the most efficient means
available to determine whether a package is in fact a bomb. The
Special. Investigations Section/Bomb Squad Unit would utilize this
X-Ray Machine to examine the inside contents of suspected
improvised explosive devices. This machine would allow the Bomb
Squad to perform their assigned task with a greater degree of
safety both for the Squad and the public.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution authorizing the
funding for the X-Ray Machine, at an estimated cost of $5,300,
funding to be from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No.
690001, Index Code 290904-996, be approved.
