Dear Mr. Perez-Lugones,
For the past two years, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce has had a
committee working in conjunction with the Miami River Coordinating Committee
regarding the Miami River. The purpose of the Chamber's committee was to
produce a film/video showing the economic impact that the Miami River has on
South Florida. This film was put together last year through a tremendous
amount of time and effort on the part of Chamber volunteers and interested
public and private groups along the River. On March 3 of this year, the Miami
River Coordinating Committee facilitated a summit meeting regarding the
dredging of the Miami River. This film was shown at that meeting.
Cungresswoman Iieana Ros-Lehtinen has seen the film and has publicaliy
announced that the dredging of the Miami River will become a priority project
for her in Washington,
Many City Agencies were represented at the River Summit meeting.
I am enclosing a copy of the video entitled "Economic Impact of the Miami River
on South Florida" for your review. The film is a public awareness video
-;f showing how vital the Miami River is to the overall economic base here in South
Florida. This video is approximately eight minutes in length.
I would like to request a personal appearance before the City Commission in
order to sliow this film to the City Commissioners and the Mayor. I would like
to request an opportunity to do this some time during the month of April.
I would like to thank you in advance for your time and consideration in this
matter.
Cordially,
Bill Biondi
