HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-90-0393F J-90-471 05/22/90 RESOLUTION NO. 90� 393 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SPECIAL CHARGES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE USE OF THE DINNER KEY BOAT RAMP LAUNCHING AREA IN CONNECTION WITH THE MIAMI BOAT SHOW IN THE GROVE TO BE PRESENTED BY FLORIDA MARINE EVENTS, INC. WITH YACHTING PROMOTIONS, INC. MAY 29, 1990 - JUNE 4, 1990 AT SAID FACILITY AND AT THE COCONUT GROVE EXHIBITION CENTER; AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE AND/OR EXECUTION OF THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH SAID SPONSOR. WHEREAS, Florida Marine Events, Inc. with Yachting Promotions, Inc. are once again presenting the Miami Boat Show in the Grove at the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center from May 29, 1990 - June 4, 1990; and WHEREAS, said sponsor has requested the use of the Dinner Key Marina Boat Ramp Launchinq Area for outside displays of large watercraft and for limited food and beverage concessions; and WHEREAS, at present, the City Code does not provide for a use fee for said ramp for such commercial activity; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has surveyed similar local facilities, including the Miami Beach Convention Center and Marina, to identify a reasonable rate of return for the use of said City property; and WHEREAS, it is recommended that the use fee for said event have a value equal to $12,000; and WHEREAS, said sponsor has offered and will pay $5,000 cash toward said use fee plus promotional, marketing and related in - kind services for Dinner Key Marina within a one-year period in an amount equal to $7,000, the cash contribution being $1,000 greater than last year's; and WHEREAS, said promotional services will include recognition of. the City of Miami's Dinner Key Marina in all local advertising and brochure advertising for the upcoming show, to promote the CITE' CO MISSION MEETING OF MAY 24 LqW 90- 393 kuoLwaa R. newly renovated and expanded Di_nr)er. i;ey Marina, said a��ver.ti_cj_nn having a value of $1.600; and WH AEAS, said sponsor will include a full page black and white advertisement of the Dinner Ivey Marina in event programs for all local and national boat shows conducted by said sponsor, said advertising having a total value of $5,400; and WHEREAS, said sponsor has also requested concession rights during the use period and has offered a fee of $3,000 for food and beverage (including alcoholic beverage) sales privileges; and WHEREAS, said fees compare favorably with that charged by other local facilities, with the rates charged at the adjacent Coconut Grove Exhibition Center and with current special event concession fees established for the Department of Parks and Recreation; and WHEREAS, pursuant to City Code Sections 2-35, 38--40, and 38-53 through 38-55, a permit may be issued for the use of said area; and WHEREAS, said permit will contain provision for the provision of promotional services and for the payment of the proposed use and concession fees; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The special charges, terms and conditions as set forth in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby established for the use of the Dinner Key Boat Ramp Launching Area in connection with the Miami Boat Show in the Grove, to be presented by Florida Marine Events, Inc. with Yachting Promotions, Inc. May 29, 1990 - June 4, 1990 at that facility and at the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center. - 2 - 90- 393 M Section 3. A fee of $5,000 (cash) for the use of the Boat Ramp/Launching Area. Payment to Dinner Key Marina shall be in advance, exclusive of security deposit to be determined. 2. Concession fee for food, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages of $3,000 (cash) plus sales tax. 3. Full page black and white advertisement of Dinner Key Marina in all Show Management programs, on all Boat Shows that the Promoter participates. This in addition to City Of Miami/Dinner Key Marina Recognition in an Local Advertising. 4. Promoter shall remove all waste material resulting from the operation and provide trash receptacles for Public use in the concession area. 5. All security and traffic control costs are to be borne by Promoter, per Miami Police Department re- commendations. 6. All other "Standard Provisions" of event permits shall apply. Mr. Alberto Ruder Director Parks, Recreation & Public Facilities CITY OF MIAMI 1390 NW 7th Street ! 1 Miami, FL 33125 Dear Mr. Ruder: Please excuse the long delay in writing to recap our conversation and confirm arrangements for the Seminole Boat Ramp for the Grove Boat Shows. We have been considering slight changes in the show dates and I, therefore, did not want to confirm the date and then change. At this point we seem to be settled date wise. As we discussed, Show Management/Yachting Promotions will provide the following in exchange for special consideration pricing for the use of the Seminole Boat Ramp area in connection with the Grove Boat Shows: 1. Full page black & white ads in all Show Management show programs i.e. Sarasota, Texas, St. Petersburg Spring, Fort Lauderdale Spring, Grove Summer and Fall, Sarasota Fall, Fort Lauderdale International and St. Petersburg Boat Shows. 2. Booth space (10' x 101) in all shows where the space will be manned and counter space for literature in other shows. Tables, chairs and carpet will also be provided, as required. 3. Editorial recognition in the Grove and Fort Lauderdale shows programs with material provided by City of Miami. Note: P.R. and creative writing assistance will be available at no cost, upon request. 4. The dates are as follows: Summer Show: May 29 & 30 move in May 31 - June 4 Show days June 5 & 6 move out Fall Show: Sept. 17-19 move in Sept. 20-24 Show days Sept. 25 & 26 move out Please advise if you need anything further from me otherwise forward a contract for signing.
