'V� ti i 14 1990 FILE SUBJECT Resolution Establishing a Crime Prevention Program REFERENCES ENCLOSLIRES : It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution establishing a Crime Prevention Program in the amount of $210,000. The Miami Police Department encourages the citizens of the community to participate in the prevention and detection of crime. For this reason the Police Department has regularly sponsored and supported such groups as the Citizens Crime Watch, Youth Crime Watch, the Metro -Dade Criminal Justice Council and other organizations devoted to the prevention of crime. in an effort to efficiently combat crime the Police Department must regularly update its equipment and programs with innovative items and ideas. The Crime Prevention Program will be utilized to purchase state of the art equipment and offer financial support to crime prevention programs not regularly budgeted by the Police Department. All items over $4500 will still require commission approval prior to purchase. It is, therefore, requested that the Resolution establishing a Crime Prevention Program, and allocating funds therefor in the amount of $210,000, be approved. Funding will be from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Codes 290904-996 in the amount of $110,000 and 029002-247 .in the amount of $100,000. AFFIDAVIT I, Perry L. Anderson, Jr., Chief of Police, City of Miami, do hereby certify that the aforementioned request for expenditures from the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund, for the funding of ACgyme Prevention Rroaram in an amount not to exgeed S210,000, complies with the provisions of Section 932.704, Florida Statutes. rry L.
