RESOLUTION NO. 9 0- 442
A RESOLUTION AUTHORJ7,ING THE FUNDING OF THE
DADS-MIAMI CRIMINAL JOSTICE COUNCIL IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $35,000, ALLOCATING
FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST
FUND, SUCH COSTS HAVING 13EEN APPROVED BY THE
CHIEF OF POLICE.
WHEREAS, Florida State Statute 932.704(3)(a), as amended,
authorizes the expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for law
enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses:
and
WHEREAS, the Dade -Miami Criminal Justice Council is engaged
in the formulation of policies that atfect all local municipal
police departments; and
WHEREAS, the funding for the Council is obtained from all
areas of the Criminal Justice System; and
WHEREAS, these funds will provide for the equivalent of one
full-time professional planner position: and
WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for
the Dade -Miami Criminal Justice Council have not been included in
the Police Department's normal operating budget; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of
this Resolution and has determined that the expenditures proposed
comply with Florida State Statute 932.704, as amended; and
WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for
this purpose are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement
Trust Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.

City of Miami Law Entor-cement Trust Fund, Project No, 690001,
Index Code 290904-996, such casts having been anproved by the
Chief of Police.
Section 3. This Resolutt.on shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

ENCLOSURES
It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution funding the
Dade -Miami Criminal Justice Council, in the amount of $35,000,
be approved.
The Police Department supports the efforts of the Miami -Dade
Criminal Justice Council. The funds requested will provide the
equivalent of a full-time professional planner position. These
planners prepare grant applications for the member departments
along with conducting research studies and writing papers on
topics of interest to the Law Enforcement Community.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution authorizing the
funding of the Dade -Miami Criminal Justice Council, and
allocating funds therefor in the amount of $35,000, funding to be
provided .from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001,
Index Code 029002-247, be approved.
