FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) INVESTIGATIVE VEHICLE FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE AT THE PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $991000 PLUS STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE ON A CONTRACT BASIS RENEWABLE ANNUALLY IN THE F AMOUNT OF $8,100.00 FOR A TOTAL PROPOSED 4 AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $107,100.00; ALLOCATING `= FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND PROJECT N0, 690001 ACCOUNT NO, 290950- `- 840; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A 4- PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE AND THEREAFTER TO EXTEND THE CONTRACT FOR STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE ANNUALLY SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received June 13, 1990 for the purchase of an investigative vehicle plus storage and maintenance on a contract basis for one (1) year renewable annually to the Department of Police; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to fourteen (14) potential suppliers and one (1) bid was received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund Project No. 690001 Account No. 290950-840; and ;a WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of { Police/Special Investigations Section for surveillance and { a WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend that the bid received from Phoenix Worldwide Industries, Inc. be accepted as the only responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this criminal investigations; and Section. section 2, The June 13. 1990 bid of Phoenix Worldwide Industries, Inca for the purchase of an investigative vehicle in the amount of $99,000.00 and storage and maintenance on a contract basis for one (1) year renewable annually in the amount of $8f100.00 for the Department of Police at a total proposed cost not to exceed $107#100.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund Project No. 690001, Account No. 290950-840. 4 Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement officer to issue a Purchase order for this vehicle and service and thereafter to extend the maintenance and storage contract annually subject to the availability of funds. BACKGROUND: The Police Department has analyzed the bids received on June 13, 1990 for the furnishing of an Investigative Vehicle.. This vehicle will be utilized by the Special Investigation Section for surveillance and criminal investigations. On January 25, 1990, invitations for sealed bids were sent to prospective vendors. Bids were opened on June-13, 1990, with one vendor submitting a bid and three (3) vendors submitting "no -bids.." Phoenix Worldwide Industries provided the only bid. Phoenix's bid. was responsive ' and meets the Department's specifications. Phoenix has provided service. to the Police .' Department in the past and does an acceptable job.. Phoenix is not located within the limits of the City of Miami. Ms. Ann Whittaker was contacted reference to Minority Pa.rtici ation and s e concurs, with the Department's recommendation._ It is., therefore, recommended that the award of bid be made to Phoenix Worldwide Industries, in the amount of $107,100 for the furnishing of an Investigative vehicle.
