WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed proposals were .

received April 9, 1990 for the -furnishing of cathode ray

terminals on an as needed basis for a minimum of two yeare.at a
cost of $534.00 per unit to the Department of Computers; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to forty (40) potential
suppliers and nine (9) proposals were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from; the
FY190/91 Operating Budgets of various city departmentsasneeded;
and
WHEREAS, the City has been purchasing cathode ray terminals
from the Unisys Corporation for the past several years through
the State of Florida contract at of price of $1,068 per unit as.
this was the only cathode ray terminal compatible ,with our
system; and
WHEREAS, due to continuous advances in technology and the
availability of clones for the Unisys environment, the City went
out on ' a' RFP2lwith' the objective of acquiring a CRT3khich could
perform the same functions at a reduced price; and
WHEREAS, the recommended vendor is the lowest bid received
which transparently emulates the current Unisys environment with

a fifty (50%) percent reduction in price ($534) per unit; and

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in..►,�
Section.
Section 2 The April 9, 1990 proposal of MTR Systems
Marketing Inc., for the furnishing of cathode ray terminals on
an as needed basis for a minimum of two years at a cost,. of
$534.00 per unit to the Department of Computers is hereby
accepted with funds therefor being allocated from the various
City.departments 1990/91 Operating Budgets.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorised to

Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective

RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully'recommended that the City Commission adopt -:tie
attached resolution accepting the bid from MTR Systems, a pion
vendor, as'_the.lowest bidder. to provide cathode ray terminals model
VS-211 to various City departments as purchases become: necessary
throughout the next two years. The funds for these purchases will>be
available at the time of purchase in the budget of the various.,
departments.
BACKGROUND'

The City of Miami has been purchasing catlkode ray terminals (CRT)
from the' Unisys Corporation for the past :several years' .thXough the' , `
State of Florida contract at a price of $1,068 per, unit. Due to
continuous- advances in, technology and the availability, of clones fQrG,'

of acquiring a CRT; which could perform the same functions'
