ENCLOSURES:

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached
Ordinance amending the Capital Improvements Program by establishing a new
project entitled "Permits, Violations, and Code Enforcement Computer System".
The Planning and Building and Zoning Department continue to receive increased
demands for services and those services require additional microcomputer and
peripheral equipment necessary to meet these demands. In addition, the close
relationship between the planning, building, zoning and code enforcement
functions necessitates the sharing of common databases for the efficient and
streamlined processing of development applications and permits. Existing
departmental computer functions have expanded to their limits and do not
afford the capability of sharing large databases with one another.
The attached ordinance would establish a new capital improvement project
entitled "Permits, Violations, and Code Enforcement Computer System" to
resolve these problems and provide for a more efficiently functioning
department.
