SUBJECT TO THE CONDITION THAT THE CHMIMM VII
MEMMIAL COMMITTEE, AND/OR THE NEW WORLD CENTER
FOUNDATION DEMONSTRATE THE FINANCIAL ABILITY TO

Financial Status_
A total of $183,581 was raised from contributions. Events
and
interest added an additional $13,110 bringing the total
to:
$196,691. The total cost for the work performed, to date,
is
$272,796. Funds were expended in the amount of $196,691 leaving
$76,105.43 in outstanding bills that have yet to be paid.
Additional Work
Mr. Shoji Sadao, project architect representing the designer,'
the
late Isamu Noguchi, has indicated that the structural integrity
of the Memorial is in question and that certain additional work
;
needs to be undertaken as soon as possible. The following is
an
itemized list of the additional work required as mentioned-
in
letters to the City from Mr. Sadao; dated January 24, 1989 =-and.
June 20, 1990:
1.
Installation of lightning arrestors
2.
Ordering and installation of grating for the
15pit surrounding' the Memorial
3.
Completion of all required electrical work
4.
Drainage of standing water from the pit and
inspection of base plates and struts for
corrosion
5.
Galvanized steel covers to.be fabricated and
sealed in place on each hub

6.
Installation of 27mm bolts to plug holes in'
the neutral axis of each hub node
7.
Set screws on ends of struts to be tightened,.
and holes sealed with sealant compatible with
strut paint finish
