AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 10656, ADOPTED
OCTOBER 12, 1989, WHICH ESTABLISHED A SPECIAL REVENUE
FUND ENTITLED: "TRAINING SUPPORT FUND REGION XIV FYI
89-90," TO PROVIDE FOR INCREASED APPROPRIATIONS FOR
ITS OPERATION IN THE ANC)UNT OF $7,875; AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD
FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA IN SAID AMOUNT AND IMPIEMENC
THE SAME IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE CITY CODE
PROVISIONS; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND
SEVE ARABILITY CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 10656, adopted October 12, 1989, the City
Commission established initial resources and initial appropriations for the
"Training Support Fund Region XIV FYI 89-90,11; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida has offered the City of Miami a $7,875
grant for the purchase of books and the reimbursement of instructional costs
for the presentation of two (2) forty -hour training courses entitled
"Investment in Excellence"; and
WHEREAS, said funds are coming from the Region XIV State of Florida
Criminal Justice Training Trust Fund to facilitate the provision of Region XIV
State approved training courses for police officers in Dade and Monroe
Counties;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MUM,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this
Ordinance are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as
if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Ordinance No. 10656, adopted October 12, 1989, is hereby
amended in the following particulars:l/
"Section 1. The following Special Revenue Fund is hereby
established and resources are hereby appropriated as described
herein:

remaining provisions are no in effect and remain unchanged.

Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the grant as
set forth in the Preamble to this Ordinance and to enter into the necessary
contract(s) and/or agreement(s) for the acceptance of the aforesaid monies for
support and instructional costs associated with the presentation of
"Investment in Excellence" programs to be used for the presentation of
approved training courses for police officers in the Region XIV grant.2/
Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are
inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby
repealed.
Section 5. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase,
or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid the remaining provisions of this
Ordinance shall not be affected.
Section 6. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty days after final
reading and adoption thereof.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached Ordinance amending Ordinance Number 10656 entitled:
"Training Support Fund, Region XIV FY '89-90" and appropriating
funds for the operation of same, in the amount of $7,875, from
the State of Florida through the Criminal Justice Training Trust
Fund.
The Miami Police Department has been offered a $7,875 grant from
the State of Florida, through the Region XIV Criminal Justice
Training Trust Fund, to cover instructional and support costs for
training courses in "Investment In Excellence."
This money will be utilized to purchase books and reimburse
instructors in these training classes.
No matching funds are required by the City.
