HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-90-0843J-90-960 10-25-90 RESOLUTION NO. y Q— 843 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION TO THE CITY OF MIAMI OF FUNDS IN THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF $2,100 FROM STREETBALL PARTNERS, INC. FOR THE USE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION FOR THE 111990 DIET PEPSI HOOP -IT -UP" BASKETBALL EVENT CONDUCTED IN THE CITY OF MIAMI OCTOBER 26 - 28, 1990; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH STREETBALL PARTNERS, INC. FOR SAID EVENT AND DONATION. WHEREAS, Streetball Partners, Inc. is conducting a national tour of 3-on-3 basketball tournaments for youth and adults entitled "1990 Diet Pepsi HOOP -IT -UP"; and WHEREAS, said event will be conducted in Miami with the Department of Parks and Recreation on October 26 through 28, 1990 pursuant to Resolution No. 90-696,adopted September 7, 1990; and WHEREAS, Streetball Partners, Inc. has offered to donate to the City the proceeds of this event for use by said Department under the City's Adopt -A -Park Program "Pride in Miami Parks"; and WHEREAS, said donation of proceeds is to be a minimum of $2,100 or 50% of the gross profits from said event; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of said Department have determined that said event and donation will benefit the community by providing opportunity and resources for positive recreational programs; and WHEREAS, an agreement between the City of Miami and Streetball Partners, Inc. has been prepared detailing the duties and obligations of each party for this event; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. 1018 TYZi,.E7"Il° OF OCT ?A IM 100mm .�y0 8431 Section 2. The donation of funds to the City of Miami to the City in the minimum amount of $2,100 for use by the Department of Parks and Recreation is hereby accepted from Streetball Partners, Inc. for the "1990 Diet Pepsi HOOP -IT -UP" basketball event to be conducted in the City of Miami October 26-28, 1990, in accordance with the "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Program. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the necessary agreement, with Streetball Partners, Inc. for said event and donation, provided that said agreement be in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, and be in compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Administration, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. Suarez, Mayor of the City of Miami, Florida, do hereby proclaim December 119 1990 as "UNITY DAY" IN OBSERVANCE THEREOF: I call upon all residents of Miami to join their hands and minds towards the common goal of living together in peace and harmony as ONE PEOPLE, ONE COMMUNITY DOING THE RIGHT THING.
