A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE PUERTO RICAN
CULTURAL PARADE TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE PUERTO
RICAN CULTURAL FOUNDATION, INC. ON NOVEMBER
18, 1990; AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF
DESIGNATED STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR
TRAFFIC SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY
THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE
AND INSPECTION SERVICES; SUBJECT TO THE
ORGANIZERS OBTAINING LETTERS OF APPROVAL FROM
BAYSIDE AND THE PORT OF MIAMI; CONDITIONED
UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR THE NECESSARY
COSTS OF CITY SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID
EVENT AND SUBJECT TO THE ORGANIZERS OBTAINING
INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT
PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS
DESIGNEE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during the
Puerto Rican Cultural Parade to be conducted by the Puerto Rican
Cultural Foundation, Inc., the following streets are hereby
closed to through vehicular traffic from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
on Sunday, November 18, 1990:
Northbound lane of Biscayne Boulevard from Southeast 6th
Street to Northeast 9th Street.
Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues,
alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect the
enumerated areas delineated in this Section.
Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to the
issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue
and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department of
Police is to be issued upon the full approval of the Chief of
Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and
traffic needs of residents, businesses and religious institutions
in the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and
upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's judgement
predicated upon all factors set forth herein.

Section 3. Said authorization is hereby conditioned upon
the organizers obtaining letters of approval from Bayside and the
Port of Miami.
Section 4. The herein authorizations are hereby conditioned
upon the organizers obtaining insurance to protect the City in
the amount prescribed by the City Manager or his designee and
upon the organizers paying for all costs of City services
associated with said event.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

The Puerto Rican Cultural Foundation, Inc. will be hosting the 1st
Puerto Rican Cultural Parade on Sunday, November 18, 1990 in the City. of
Miami.
We would like to go before the Commission on October 11, 1990 to
request to the City of Miami that they waive the permit fees for the street
banners, issue a restriction of street peddlers and permission for the use of
Biscayne Boulevard.
