HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-90-094921, J-90-982 11/08/90 RESOLUTION 90-- 949 A RESOLUTION SELECTING A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GENERAL EMPLOYEES' AND SANITATION EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT TRUST AS PROVIDED FOR IN CITY CODE SECTION 40-227 FOR A SPECIFIED TERM OF OFFICE. WHEREAS, a vacancy needs to be filled on the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust Board of Trustees and term of office specified herein; and WHEREAS, pursuant to City Code Section 40-227 (A)(1)(b), the City Commission shall select the person to fill such vacancy from the list submitted by the Miami General Employees Association, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) provided that the individual shall be a present or retired member of the bargaining unit represented by the AFSCME and serve according to the constitution and by-laws of the AFSCME; and WHEREAS, the name of Ms. Pamela Schade has been duly submitted by AFSCME; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following individual is hereby selected as a member of the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust Board of Trustees to serve a term of office expiring November 30, 1992: Pamela Shade . Pursuant to the Financial Disclosure law, Chapter 84-318(3), Laws of Florida, and as a member of the General and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust, you will be required to file a Statement of Financial Interests form with the Supervisor of Elections, Dade County Department of Elections. Their address is: Metro Dade Center, 19th Floor, 111 N.W. 1st Street, Miami, Florida 33130 (Tel: 375-5553). Sections 2-305 through 306 of the City of Miami Code require all elective and appointive officers or employees of the City to submit to the City Clerk a Statement of Real Property Owned by him/her, whether the title be either legal or equitable, whether owned in whole or in part, as well as a Statement of Corporate Real Property in which he/she has a controlling interest, or is an officer. Enclosed herein please find a copy of said forms to fill out. Kindly complete and return them to us at your earliest convenience. Also enclosed is a copy of a memorandum from Jorge L. Fernandez, City Attorney, dated October 11, 1988, outlining some guidelines to assist members of City Boards and Committees in complying with the Government in the Sunshine Law. Also enclosed, for informational purposes, is another memorandum from the City Attorney, dated April 3, 1989 on legal requirements concerning Conflict of Interest and Dual Office Holding circumstances which may prohibit your membership in said bodies. Odio City Manager 4 41 DATE: 1', V ii j 2 71990 FILE: SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE CITY OF MIAPII GENERAL EMPLOYEES' AND T SANITATION EMPLOYEES' REFERENCES: RETIREMENT TRUST BOARD ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission appoint one member as a member of the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust as per attached Resolution. , BACKGROun- : City of Miami Code Section 40-227(A), (Ordinance No. 10002), provides for the appointment of a nine member board of trustees to administer and manage the -retirement plan known as the "City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement T-rust". Of these nine members, one is to be selected by the City Manager,_ two by the general em loyees (AFSCME bargaining unit), and two by the sanitation employees (SEA bargaining unit). Four independent trustees are to be selected upon recommendation, by the two bargaining units, by the City Commission. Mr. Charles Cox, President of AFSCME, has submitted the name of t Ms. Pamela Schade for appointment to the Pension Board (see attached letter) . The term of office would begin on December 1.. 1990 and expire on November 30, 1.992.
