HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-90-0947J-90-1000 11/21/90 T # RESOLUTION NO. 9 0 -- 947 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF SITE TECH ENGINEERING CORP., IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $7739600.00, BASE BID OF THE PROPOSAL, FOR LOCAL DRAINAGE PROJECT, E-66; WITH MONIES THEREFOR ALLOCATED FROM THE 1991 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT ORDINANCE NO. 10782, PROJECT NO. 352275, IN THE AMOUNT OF $773,600.00 TO COVER THE CONTRACT COST; AND $1339048 TO COVER THE ESTIMATED EXPENSES, FOR A TOTAL OF $906,648.00; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SAID FIRM. WHEREAS, sealed bids were received November 6, 1990, for LOCAL DRAINAGE PROJECT, E-66; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Public Works recommend that the bid from SITE TECH ENGINEERING, CORP., be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; and WHEREAS, the 1991 Capital Improvement Ordinance No. 10782, was adopted on September 27, 1990, and monies are available for the proposed amount of the contract, project expense, and incidentals under Project No. 352275 of said ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The November 6, 1990, bid of SITE TECH ENGINEERING, CORP., in an amount not to exceed $773,600.00, for the project entitled LOCAL DRAINAGE PROJECT, E-66, for the base bid of the proposal, based on lump sum and unit prices, is hereby accepted at the price stated therein. Section 2. The total project cost of $906,648.00 is hereby allocated from the 1991 Capital Improvement Ordinance No. 10782, Project No. 352275• Said total project cost consists of the $773,600.00 contract cost and $133,048.00 estimated expenses incurred by the City. The project consists of construction of drainage structures at designated locations citywide. It will include Perforated Al umi rxm Pipe Fm rch Drai m (24" to 36" Diameter) ; miscellaneous alum num, concrete and ductile iron pipe in various sizes; sidewalk, curbs, gutters and pavement replacement in construction area; catch basins and manholes. City regulations will allow bidders to furnish perfomwm and bid bads in accordance with Resolutions No. %-963 and No. 87-915. For clarification of technical issues as presented in the doaments and specifications, please contact Daniel C. Brenner, P.E., Environmental Engineer, at (305)579-6P65. Prospective bidders will be rWA red to sulmit, with their bid, a copy of the appropriate Certificate of Couvetency, as issued by Dade County, which authorizes the bidder to perform the proposed work. All bids shall be submitted in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and Specifications. New City regulations will require each bidder to submit proposals in duplicate originals. Plans and specifications may be obtained from the office of the Director of Public Works, 275 N.W. 2 Street, 3rd floor, Miami, Florida, 33128, on or after October 16, 1990. If bidders wish, a set of plans and specifications will be mailed to thEm by writing to the Department of Public Works and including a separate check for $8. There will be a $20 deposit requ i red for the first set of plans and sped i cati ons. Addi ti ona-Fsets may be punch for a fee of $Z) per set and t-N1 s is not refundable. Deposits will be refunded only upon the return of one set of plans and specifications to the Department of Public Works, unmarked and in good condition within two (2) weeks after the opening of the bids. Bidders are alerted to the provisions of Ordinance No. 10062 regarding allocation of contracts to minority vendors. The City will expect prospective bidders to submit an Affirmative Action Plan, as defined in said Ordinace, and as required in the Instructions to Bidders. The City of Miami has adopted Ordinance No. 10032, which implements the "First Source Hiring Agreement." The object of this ordinance is to provide employment opportunities to City of Miami residents on contracts resulting in the creation of new permanent jobs.
