A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ADDITIONAL PURCHASE ON
BID NO. 90-91-014 OF EIGHTY (80) POLICE PURSUIT
VEHICLES FROM MAROONE CHEVROLET, HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA,
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES AND
OPERATIONS FLEET MANAGEr DIVISION FOR
USE BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN AN AMDUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $972,560.00, FUNDS FOR THIS PURCHASE BEING
AVAILABLE UNDER A 36-MONTH LEASE PURCHASE PLAN WHICH
SHALL BE FINANCED BY THE MANUFACTURER OR OTHER
FINANCIAL INSTITUTION; THE REMAINING FUNDS FOR THIS
PURCHASE BEING AVAILABLE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES AND OPERATIONS NMGEMEfiTI',
PROJECT NO. 509000, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 420901-880 AND
SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF
PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS
PURCHASE, SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received March 7,
1990 for the furnishing of one -hundred and eighty (180) police pursuit
vehicles for the Department of Environmental Services and Operations
Management/Fleet Management Division; and
WHEREAS, on October 25, 1990, Bid No. 90-91-014 was accepted by
Resolution No. 90-845 to purchase eighty (80) vehicles from Maroone Chevrolet,
Hollywood, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Environmental Services and Operations Management Department
purchased eighty (80) vehicles at that time and is requesting approval to
purchase an additional eighty (80) vehicles at the proposed amount of
$972,560.00; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available under a 36-month lease
purchase plan which shall be financed by the manufacturer or other financial
institution, and the Department of Environmental Services and Operations
Management, Project No. 509000, Account Code No. 420901-880 and Special
Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund; and
WIMREA.S, these vehicles will be used by the Police Department as pursuit
patrol vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of
Environmental Services and Operations Management recommend that the additional
purchase from Bid No. 90-91-014 from Maroon Chevrolet be approved;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE C011MISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this
Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as
if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The purchase of eighty (80) additional police vehicles under
Bid No. 90-91-014 from Maroon Chevrolet for the Department of Envirormmental
Services and Management Operations in an amount not to exceed $972,560.00 is
hereby accepted with funds available under a 36-month lease purchase plan
which shall be financed by the manufacturer, or other financial institution
and from the Department of Environmental Services operations Management,
Project No. 509000, Account Code No. 420901-880 and Special Programs and
Accounts, Contingent Fund.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief
Procurement Officer to issue a purchase order for these vehicles subject to
the availability of funds.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution for the purchase of eighty (80) 1991
Chevrolet Caprice police pursuit vehicles from Maroone Chevrolet,
Inc., Hollywood, Florida, a non -minority vendor, as the only
responsive bidder in accordance with Bid No. 90-91-014. This
purchase is essentially necessary in order to adhere to the
approved vehicle replacement schedule outlined in Resolution No.
89-794. The total cost of this purchase is $972,560 which will
be financed over a 36-month lease purchase plan utilizing the
remaining funds from the Department of Environmental Services and
Operations Management, Account No. 420901-880, Project No. 509000
and Special Programs and Accounts Contingent Fund.
The Department of Environmental Services and Operations
Management, Fleet Management Division has analyzed the bid
received pursuant to Bid No. 9U-91-014, for the purchase of
eighty (80) 1991 Chevrolet Caprice police pursuit vehicles. It
is respectfully recommended that an award be granted to Maroone
Chevrolet, Inc., Hollywood, Florida, in the amount of $972,560,
as the only responsible bidder. These units shall replace the
existing units scheduled for replacement in accordance with the
approved replacement schedule. Funds for this purpose are
available under a 36-month lease purchase plan which shall be
financed by the manufacturer, or other financial institution,
from the Department of Environmental Services and Operations
Management, Account No. 420901-880, Project No. 509000 and
Special Programs and Accounts Contingent Fund.

Account No. 420901-880, Project No. 509000 and Special Programs
and Accounts Contingent Fund.
