A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COMMITMENT OF FUNDS TO REGIS HOUSE, AND ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $50,000, FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, SUCH == COSTS HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE. 8 s.- WHEREAS, Florida State Statute 932.704(3)(a), as amended, authorizes the expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for law a enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Police Department recognizes that much of the crime committed today is committed by adolescent drug abusers; and WHEREAS, Regis House targets this age group and is expanding its outpatient drug abuse treatment center in the Little Havana area; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Police Department supports these efforts and has taken an active role in the funding of such programs; and WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for the above listed program have not been included in the Police Department's normal operating budget; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this Resolution and has determined that the proposed expenditures comply with Florida State Statute 932.704, as amended; and WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for this program are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. The authorization for the commitment of funds to Regis House, with the allocation of funds therefor, in an amount not to exceed $50000, from the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 029002-247, is hereby approved.
