Resolution Governing the Sale of
Previously Issued Weapons
It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution amending
Resolution No. 89-798, adopted September 14, 1989, and allowing
for the disposition of previously issued weapons, to sworn
personnel, at,market price, be approved.
The Miami Police Department has issued Glock, 9mm, semiautomatic
firearms to officers who previously carried Smith & Wesson
revolvers. Resolution No. 89-798 approved the donation of
service weapons to retiring officers, so long as they met certain
requirements. This amendment to Resolution No. 89-798 would
allow for the sale of the previously issued Smith & Wesson
revolvers to officers at market price. In bids for the Smith &
Wesson revolvers, received by the Chief Procurement Officer, the
highest price quoted was $85.00. It is suggested that this be
the price set for the sale of these revolvers.
