RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 90-522, ADOPTED
JULY 12, 1990, AS AMENDED, WHICH FUNDED OPERATING
EXPENSES FOR TWO AIR RESCUE HELICOPTERS, BY INCREASING
THE APPROVED NUMBER OF FUTURE OPERATING HOURS BY 357,
WITH AN INCREASE IN ALLOCATED FUNDS NOT TO EXCEED
$49,980 FOR SUCH OPERATING EXPENSES.
WHEREAS, Florida State Statute 932.704(3)(a), as amended, authorizes the
expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for :taw enforcement purposes not considered
normal operating expenses; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 90-522, adopted on July 12, 1990, funded the
operating expenses for two Air Rescue Helicopters, for 284 hours, at the cost
of $44,075; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 90-931 increased the number of hours to 604 and
the amount to $94,075; and
WHEREAS, the maintenance of current levels of service, by the Aviation
Detail, requires an additional 357 hours, at a cost of $49,980, to fund the
program through September 30, 1991; and
WHEREAS, funds to cover the increase are available in the City of Miami
Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 029002-247;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to
this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated
herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Section 2 of Resolution No. 90-522, adopted July 12,
1990, is hereby amended in the following particulars:I
"Section 2. The funding of operating costs for two (2)
Air Rescue Helicopters is hereby approved, with

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully requested that a Resolution amending
Resolution No. 90-522, adopted July 12, 1990, and authorizing
additional funding for the maintenance of two City of Miami Air
Rescue Helicopters, at a cost of $49,980, funding therefor from
the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code
029002-247, be•.approved.
The Police Department Aviation Program continues to be extremely
successful. Along with regular patrol support missions, the
detail has assisted nearly every section of the Police
Department. They have also responded to requests from the Metro
Dade Police Department, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Customs
Service, and the Coral Gables Police Department.
In order to continue providing this type of service through
September 30, 1991, funding in the amount of $49,980, for an
additional 357 hours, is necessary. Funds for this program are
available in the Law Enforcement Trust Fund.
AFFIDAVIT
I, Calvin Ross, Chief of Police, City of Miami, do hereby certify
that this request for expenditure from the City of Miami Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, for the continued financing o operating
costs for two Air Rescue Helicopters, at a cost of S1401hr., not
to exceed 357'hours for a total of S49.980, complies with the
provisions of Section 932.704, Florida Statutes.
