HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-10899N J-91-430 5/29/91 ORDINANCE NO. 10899 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 53-135 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, BY ESTABLISHING SPECIAL CHARGES FOR THE USE OF THE ORANGE BOWL MEMORIAL STADIUM AND THE MIAMI BOBBY MADURO STADIUM PARKING LOTS FOR EVENTS HELD THEREON; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. WHEREAS, the Department of Conferences, Conventions, and Public Facilities is responsible for the operation of city stadiums; and WHEREAS, controlled parking operations at said stadiums provide improved traffic circulation, vehicular and pedestrian safety and significant revenue to these enterprise facility budgets; and WHEREAS, parking lot charges heretofor have not been structured; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of said department recommend that parking lot charges be established; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 53-135 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, is hereby amended in the following particulars:l/ "Sec. 53-135. Parking and special charges. -(JH-,L Special Charges for the use of stadium p kLag lots at the Oranae Bowl Memorial tadium and at the Miami Bobby Maduro Stadium Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Underscored words and/or figures shall be added. The remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged. " Asterisks indicate omitted and unchanged material. 10899 4 52.00 per space per day for commercial events to include spaces used by event - sponsors. 81.00 per spaceper day for non-profit events, to include spaces used by event sponsors." Section 2. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 3. All ordinances or parts of Ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 4. If any section, part of this section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 5. This Ordinance shall become effective, thirty (30) days after final reading and adoption thereof, pursuant to law. PASSED ON FIRST READING BY TITLE ONLY this 20th day of June 1991. Odio City Manager ENCLOSURES: MZOWS)OVIODRI�,►� It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached ordinance amending Section 53-135 of the City Code to provide for a moderate increase in the parking lot charges for certain special events for city stadiums. BACKGROUND: The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities has prepared the attached ordinance which will amend the city code to refine existing provisions related to stadium parking lot charges. The primary impact of this revision will be to raise the parking lot charges at the City's stadiums by a moderate amount. rAt present the City charges $1.00 per space, per day for commercial_ events and $0.50 per space, per day for non-profit I events.. The Administration proposes to raise the parking lot charges for commercial events to $2.00 per space, per day and $1.00 per space, per day for non-profit events.
