A RESOLUTION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION URGENTLY REQUESTING THAT METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY INSTALL TRAFFIC REGULATORY SIGNS IN THE SOUTH COCONUT GROVE NEIGHBORHOOD AS ORIGINALLY REQUESTED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI,` FLORIDA, BY RESOLUTION NO, 89-907t ADOPTED OCTOBER 12, 1959; FURTHER STRONGLY URGING METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY TO S TAKE STEPS WHICH WILL RESULT IN$ (1) THE # INSTALLATION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF MAIN HIGHWAY AND FRANKLIN AVENUE, AND (2) THE RELOCATION OF THE EXISTING TRAFFIC SIGNAL FROM THE INTERSECTION 1 _ OF MAIN HIGHWAY AND HIBISCUS STREET TO THE INTERSECTION OF MAIN HIGHWAY AND POINCIANA AVENUE IN THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN NAMED OFFICIALS. - WHEREAS, at the March 3, 1989 Miami City Commission Meeting, a group of citizens, concerned about undesirable traffic intrusion 'into their neighborhood, requested that a neighborhood _meeting be conducted with the property owners of the South ss;' Coconut Grove neighborhood to consider recommendations for controlling traffic; and WHEREAS, on May 23, 1989, a neighborhood meeting was -conducted by the Department of Public Works to hear the property owners' traffic intrusion concerns in the South Coconut Grove neighborhood and consider recommendations for controlling - traffic; and WHEREAS, after considering those concerns, and recommendations, the Department of Public Works developed a traffic- regulatory sign plan, hereinafter called Plan "C", t. t consistentwiththe traffic .control needs of, the .-neighborhood,- and WHEREAS, upon further review of the various traffic. control - plans, the City Commission determined that: -the traffic co,Htrql s ricr■■ Fcor��(yu�suAt��. WHEREAS, at the March 3, 1989 Miami City Commission Meeting, a group of citizens, concerned about undesirable traffic; intrusion into their neighborhood, requested that a neighborhood meeting be conducted with the property owners of the South Coconut Grove neighborhood to consider recommendations for controlling traffic; and WHEREAS, on May 23, 1989, a neighborhood meeting was conducted by the Department of Public Works to hear the property ownerstraffic intrusion concerns in the South Coconut Grove measures contained in Plan "C" should be itaplamanted to control un&sir ale ` traffic intrusion into the South Coconut Grove ne3.ghbnrh+ od; and W EREAS, on October 12, 1889, the City Commission approved Resolution No, 89-907 urging Metropolitan Dade County to take. steps,which will result in the installation of traffic regulatory` signs, in accordance with Plan "C" incorporated therein; and WHEREAS, at its September 11, 1991 Meeting, the City Commission was informed that the traffic regulatory signs contained in Plan "C" had not been implemented; and WHEREAS, the City Commission considered requests from the citizens in Coconut Grove for implementation of Plan "C" and also for modifications to relocate the traffic signal at the intersection of -Main Highway and Franklin Avenue and to relocate' the existing traffic signal from the intersection of Main Highway and Hibiscus Street to the intersection of Main Highway and Poinciana Avenue in the City of Miami, Florida; = NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY _ OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the".' v Preamble -to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference.`. s s thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this ' Section.. Section 2. The City Commission urgently requests Metropolitan Dade -County to install traffic regulatory signs, in the South CoconutGrove Neighborhood in the City of Miami, ' r Florida, as originally requested by City of Miami Resolution.' No. 89-907 (attached), adopted October 120, 1989, which incorporated Plan "C" herein by reference (attached). Section 3. Metropolitan Dade County is further strongly urged to take steps which result in: (1) the installation of a.: r new traffic signal at the intersection of Main Highway and s, Franklin Avenue; and (2) the relocation of the existing traffic s signal from the intersection of Main.
