FROM RERRIG PACIFIC COMPANY FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION
AND SOLID WASTE AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF
$34,000.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM
THE 1990-91 SOLID WASTE REDUCTION, RECYCLING
& EDUCATION SPECIAL GRANT FUND, PROJECT NO.
197003, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 320306-840;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE
CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE
ORDER FOR THESE CONTAINERS.

WHEREAS, the Department of General Services. Administration
f
and Solid Waste wishes to purchase 8,000 Curbside Recycling
Containers needed for the expansion of the recycling program
under existing Palm Beach County Bid No. 91-026 from the Rehrig
Pacific Company at a total cost not to exceed $34,000.00;.and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that by purchasing these bins under
this existing bid, the City can save approximately $13,000.00;
and
WHEREAS, these containers will be used to provide efficient
collection of recyclable materials, i.e., newspaper, glass,
aluminum, bimetal cans, and plastic bottles from approximately
8,060 households to be included in the City's recycling program;
and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from the
1990-91 Solid Waste Reduction, Recycling & Education Grant Fund)
Project No. 197003, Account Code No. 320306-840; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Administrator of the
General Services and Solid Waste Department recommend that the
purchase of said containers from Rehrig Pacific Company be
approved;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY`

INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
it is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution awarding a contract to furnish 8,000 curbside
recycling containers, for use by the General Services
Administration and Solid Waste Department, from an existing Palm
Beach County Bid No. 91-026, to Rehrig Pacific Company,:located
in Atlanta, Georgia, a non-minority/non-local vendor, at a
proposed cost of $34,000.00, which funds are available from the
1990-91 "Solid Waste Reduction: Recycling and Education" Special
Revenue Fund, Project No. 197003, Account Code No. 320306-840.
BACKGROUND
The Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste
needs to purchased 8,000 Curbside recycling containers to be
utilized in the recycling program. In order to secure the
expenditure of advanced grant funds for fiscal year 1990-91 it is
recommended that the award be made to Rehrig Pacific Company
under an existing Palm Beach County Bid No. 91-026. It is
estimated that by purchasing said bins under this existing bid,
the City of Miami will save $13,000.00. Advance State Grant

Funds for recycling must be expended by September 30, 1991.
