This authorization is conditioned upon the organizers paying for any costs of City services and applicable fees and the requirement that the City will be insured against any potential liability. BACKGROUND: The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate legislation in connection with the Av-Med Coconut Grove 5-Miler, to be conducted on October 5, 1991, by the Miami Runners Club, Inc. to benefit the Covenant House Shelter for homeless children. The organizers have met with the Special Events Committee (including the Police Department) to design a race course that minimizes the disruption of traffic in the area. Since the aforementioned event has been held in Coconut Grove in the past, the limitations imposed by Ordinance 10764 as to the number of events in the Grove Special Events District do not apply in this case.
