Home My WebLink AboutR-91-0738J-91-774 9/25/91 RESOLUTION NO. y 1 .._ 7 3 8 A RESOLUTION BY A 4/5THS AFFIRMATIVE VOTE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION AFTER A DULY ADVERTISED PUBLIC HEARING, RATIFYING THE CITY MANAGER'S FINDING THAT THE REPAIR OF AN _ OVERHEAD DOOR AT THE COCONUT GROVE CONVENTION CENTER, WAS AN EMERGENCY NEED; RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE ISSUANCE OF A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE TO CORDES DOOR COMPANY AT THE AMOUNT OF $15,500.00 FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION AND SOLID WASTE, WITH FUNDS THEREFOR BEING ALLOCATED FROM ACCOUNT CODE NO. 350201-340, PROJECT NO. 415000. _ WHEREAS, the main overhead door servicing the Coconut Grove Convention Center was in disrepair and required extensive repairs to restore its usage; and WHEREAS, this access point is vital to the successful operation of major events at this facility and being that the next event at this facility was scheduled for September 4, 1991, it was essential that the door be immediately repaired; and WHEREAS, proposals were solicited from eight (8) companies and Cordes Door Company was selected as the lowest responsible and responsive bidder; and WHEREAS, funds for these services are available from Account Code No. 350201-340, Project No. 415000; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. By affirmative vote of 4/6ths of the Members of the City Commission, the City Manager's written finding that a valid emergency need existed for the repair of an Overhead Door at the Coconut Grove Convention Center, at a proposed amount of $15,500.00, for the General Services Administration and solid Waste Department is hereby ratified, approved and confirmed, with funds therefor being hereby allocated from Account Code No. 350201-340, Project No. 415000. Section 3. The City Manager's action in authorizing the Chief Procurement Officer to issue this purchase order is hereby ratified, approved and confirmed. Section 4. Odio Center City Manager ENCLOSURES RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution ratifying, approving, and confirming the City Manager authorization for the emergency repair of an Overhead Door at the Coconut Grove Convention Center for a total amount of $15,500.00 from Cordes Door Company a non minority/Dade County vendor. Funds are available from the Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities, Project No. 415000 Account Code No. 350201-340. BACKGROUND The main overhead door servicing the Coconut Grove Convention Center is presently in disrepair and requires extensive repairs to restore its usage. Given the fact that this access point is vital to the successful operation of major events at this facility, with one forthcoming event scheduled for September 4, 1991, immediate repair was essential. In order to proceed with the replacement, proposals were solicited from eight (8) companies in which five (5) responses were received: Cordes Door Company was selected as the lowest most responsible and responsive vendor meeting the specifications. AMOUNT OF BID: $15,500.00 SOURCE OF FUNDS: Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities, Project No. 415000 Account Code No. 350201-340. Florida Security Gate Company - $13,252.00 Min. American Roll -Up Door Company - $22,950.00 Min. A A Sales and Services Company - $39,000.00 Min, Due to extensive damage and immobility of the door, it is very difficult to identify all repairs required; and thus, vendors have proposed a minimum to maximum estimate. Companies not submitting bids were: American Rolling Doors of Florida; Barger Doors; and Crawford Door Company.
