HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-91-0737a-91-773 9/25/91 _ r RESOLUTION NO. _ y .i 3 A RESOLUTION BY A 4/5THS AFFIRMATIVE VOTE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION AFTER A DULY ADVERTISED PUBLIC HEARING, RATIFYING THE CITY MANAGER'S FINDING THAT THE REPLACEMENT OF AN ELEVATOR CYLINDER AT THE DON HICKMAN ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, WAS AN EMERGENCY NEED; RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE ISSUANCE OF A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE TO MOWREY ELEVATOR COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,500.00 FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION AND SOLID WASTE, WITH FUNDS THEREFOR BEING ALLOCATED FROM ACCOUNT CODE NO. 420401-670. WHEREAS, the east elevator servicing the Don Hickman Administration Building is presently in disrepair and non- funotional due to a severe leakage in an underground hydraulic cylinder; and WHEREAS, due to the large number of City personnel and visitors frequenting this facility, the access to this five -story building by the lone remaining public elevator has become extremely inconvenient and time consuming; and WHEREAS, in order to proceed with the replacement, proposals were solicited from eight (8) companies in which two (2) responses were receive; and WHEREAS, Mowrey Elevator, Inc. was selected as the Lowest responsible and responsive bidder; and WHEREAS, funds for these services are available from Account Code No. 420401-670; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. By affirmative vote of 4/8ths of the Members of the City Commission, the City Manager's written finding that a valid emergency need existed for the replacement of an elevator cylinder at the Don Hickman Administration Building by Mowrey Elevator, Inc. at a proposed amount of $14,500.00, for the General Services Administration and Solid Waste Department is hereby ratified, approved and confirmed, with funds therefor being hereby allocated from Account Code No. 420401-870. — Section 3. The City Manager's action in authorizing the Chief Procurement Officer to issue this purchase order is hereby ratified, approved and confirmed. Section 4. Odio City Manager ENCLOSURES SEP 2 5199, FILE Resolution for Ratification of the Emergency Replacement of an Elevator Cylinder at the Don Hickman Administration Building RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution ratifying, approving, and confirming the City Manager authorization for the emergency replacement of an Elevator Cylinder at the Don Hickman Administration Building for a total amount of $14,500.00 from Mowrey Elevator Company, a non minority/non-local vendor. Funds are available from the Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste Account Code No. 420401-670. BACKGROUND The east elevator servicing the Don Hickman Administration Building is presently in disrepair and non-functional due to a severe leakage in an underground hydraulic cylinder. SUBJECT Authorization for an Emergency Purchase Order for the Replacement of an Elevator REFERENCES Cylinder at the Don Hickman Administration Building ENCLOSURES The Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste/Property Maintenance Division is requesting your approval in waiving the competitive bidding process and authorizing an emergency purchase for the replacement of a cylinder in the east elevator servicing the Don Hickman Administration Building at a proposed cost of $14,500.00 from Mowrey Elevator Company, a non- minority/non-local vendor. Funding for this project is available from the Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste, Property Maintenance Division, Account Code No. 420401- 670.
