HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-91-0733J-91-796 9/24/91 RESOLUTION NO. 9 17 3 3 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS TO SERVE ON THE MIAMI WATERFRONT ADVISORY BOARD. WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 10459, as amended by Ordinance No. 10638, established the existing Miami Waterfront Advisory Board; and WHEREAS, certain members were originally appointed to the Miami Waterfront Advisory Board by Resolution No. 89-927, adopted October 6, 1988, and subsequent resolutions have maintained the level of Board membership by appointing individuals to serve specific terms; and WHEREAS, vacancies now exist as a result of the regular expiration of terms on September 8, 1991 for two (2) members and one (1) alternate; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following individuals are hereby appointed as members of the Miami Waterfront Advisory Board to serve upon appointment for terms as designated herein, or until their successors are appointed: CATEGORY B To serve a term expiring September 8, 1994 in position 1: NAME: [No appointment made] ADDRESS: (Nominated by Vice Mayor Plummer) CATEGORY B To serve a term expiring September 8, 1994 in position 2: NAME: Capt. Pursuant to Article II, Section 8 of the Florida Constitution and/or Dade County Ordinance No. 77-13, as a member of the Waterfront Board, you will be required to file a Source of Income Statement form with the Dade County Supervisor, Elections Department. Their address is: Metro Dade Center, 111 N.W. 1st Street, Suite 1910, Miami, Florida 33128-1993 (Tel: 375--5553)• Also enclosed is a copy of a memorandum from Jorge L. Fernandez, City Attorney, dated October 11, 1988, outlining some guidelines to assist members of City Boards and Committees in complying with the Government in the Sunshine Law. Also enclosed, for informational purposes, is another memorandum from the City Attorney, dated April 3, 1989 on legal requirements concerning Conflict of Interest and Dual Office Holding circumstances which may prohibit your membership in said bodies. Odio City Manager DATE TILE Resolution Appointing Three sua,ECT Members to the Waterfront Advisory Board REFERENCES ENCLOSURES RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution appointing individuals to serve on the Waterfront Advisory Board, two (2) as regular members and one (1) as the alternate. BACKGROUND: The Department of Parks and Recreation has prepared the attached legislation. The purpose of this resolution is to replenish membership on the Waterfront Advisory Board by appointing two (2) regular members and one (1) alternate member. The appointments are required as a result of the normal expiration of specified membership terms on September B. 1991, though previously appointed members may continue to serve until their successors have been named by action of the Commission. Applicable ordinances mandate that the Board consist of ten (10) regular members and one (1) alternate. The most recent appointments were made September 11, 1991. It should be noted that Ordinance No. 10459 provides that members of this board " ... shall reside in the City, maintain a place of business or office in the City, or own real property in the City at the time of their appointment." The requested appointments correspond to the following categories: CATEGORY B Initial Term: 1988 - Sept. 8, 1991 New Term: Sept. 91 1991 - Sept. 8, 1994 Position 1: One (1) member, with term expiring Septemeber 8, 1994 or until a successor is appointed. Individual to be nominated by Vice Mayor Plummer.
