RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF
FUNDS FROM THE SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED:
"DRUG FREE NEIGHBORHOOD TASK FORCE," IN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $11,750, IN COMPLIANCE
WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE BUREAU
OF JUSTICE GRANT AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Police Department and
Metropolitan Dade County Police Department have established a
joint Task Force targeting narcotics trafficking in specific
geographical areas; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice
Programs, has approved the award of $400,000 toward this joint
Task Force, to be administered by Metropolitan Dade County; and
WHEREAS, equipment purchases and other related expenses
totalling $42,967 must be made by the City of Miami Police
Department from the $400,000 as a precondition to the grant
award; and
WHEREAS, the lease of computer equipment ($1,750), the
publication of materials publicizing the operation ($2,500), and
the payment of a share of the consulting services of Booz, Allen
($7,500) are in compliance with the grant award; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of a prisoner transport van is the
final condition which the City of Miami must meet and Procurement
Management is preparing a formal bid package at this time; and

WHEREAS, all payments will be made from grant proceeds and
require no matching funds from the City of Miami;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The expenditure of funds from the special
revenue fund entitled, "Drug Free Neighborhood Task Force," for
the lease of computers ($1,750), the publication of materials
publicizing the operation ($2,500), and the payment of a share of
the consultation services of Booz, Allen ($7,500), totalling
$11,750, is hereby authorized.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution authorizing the
expenditure of funds from the special revenue fund entitled,
"Drug Free Neighborhood Task Force," in the amount of $11,750,
be ' approved .
The Miami Police Department and Metropolitan Dade County Police
Department have developed a joint task furce Lo Larget narcotics
trafficking in specific geographic areas. For this purpose a
special revenue fund entitled, "Drug Free Neighborhood Task
Force" has been established to accept $42,96-7 from Metropolitan
Dade County for the operation of this Task Force.
One of the preconditions for forming this multi jurisdicti.onal
task force was that the City of Miami would commit $11,750, from
grant proceeds, toward the leasing of computer equipment
($1,750), the printing of materials publicizing the program
($2,500), and a share of the payment of the booz, Allen
Consulting Plan ($7,500). The computer leasing and publication
costs will be paid directly to the Metropolitan Dade County
Police Department, while the City of Miami's share of the
consultant fees will be paid directly to the City of Coral. Gables
Police Department. The remaining monies appropriated by the
Ordinance establishing the special revenue fund will be used to
purchase a prisoner transport van. The specifications for the
van have been sent to 11rocurement Management and formal bids are
being solicited.
It is, therefore, recommended that the expenditure of funds,
totalling $11,750, from the special revenue fund entitled, "Drug
Free Neighborhood Task Force," be approved.
