XAVIER L.JSUAREZ; MAYOR J TO The Honorable Mayor Member of the City `Rom Cesar H. Odio City Manager RECOMMENDATION C'IT'i OF_ t,IAM, FLORIDA CA=18 INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM and [)t' "` 19i Commission FEU 41 - J SUR1UI Resolution Directing the Return of Pan Am Artifacts FIE FERPICES Commission Meeting of November 14, 1991 PICtOSURES It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing and directing the City Manager to return the Pan American. World Airways Artifacts to Pan American World Airways representatives. Since the City no longer has the space to store these items and is currently unable to display them in the historical aviation museum as intended, it is recommended that these items be returned. BACKGROUND The Department of Development and Housing Conservation, Property and Lease Management Division, has had discussions with Pan American World Airways representatives regarding the return of the artifacts that were donated by Pan American for the proposed historical aviation museum. Except for a short time, the City of Miami has stored the artifacts in the 1145 N.W. 11 Street building. Due to the vacation of personnel from this building to the Dupont Plaza Center by the end of October, 1991, discussion ensued with Pan American World Airways representatives to have these valuable artifacts returned to them. The City would thereby give up a serious liability involved in having the artifacts remain in an empty building. Attachment: Resolution 74 C1q1r-1
