HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-91-0371J-91-409 5/8/91 RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION CODESIGNATING SOUTHWEST 55TH AVENUE ROAD FROM FLAGLER STREET TO SOUTHWEST 57TH AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "HOWARD F. ANDERSON WAY"; FURTHER, INSTRUCTING THE TRANSMITTAL OF A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO AFFECTED AGENCIES. WHEREAS, Howard F. Anderson, a citizen of the United States, represents liberty as well as freedom to all American men who have served this great country; and WHEREAS, Howard F. Anderson can be identified with the same men who sacrificed their lives more than 30 years ago in the Bay of Pigs Invasion in Cuba; and WHEREAS, it is only fitting to demonstrate our appreciation on behalf of all citizens of the City of Miami to remember Mr. Anderson by codesignating a street named after him; and WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission, by Ordinance No. 10761, adopted July 12, 1990, created the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee and entrusted said Committee with the responsibility of reviewing street codesignation requests and making recommendations to the City Commission in its jdetermination as to whether a street should be codesignated; and WHEREAS, the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee, at its meeting of April 23, 1991, reviewed a request for codesignation of Southwest 55th Avenue Road between Flagler Street and Southwest 57th Avenue, Miami, Florida, as "HOWARD F. ANDERSON WAY"; and WHEREAS, the street requested to be codesignated is located in a Latin neighborhood, which will bring a source of pride in the community; and WHEREAS, the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee has recommended to the City Commission that this request for codesignation be granted; CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF MAY 9 SM -91- 1, 71 IMSUMoe Ns. — NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings set forth in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby codesignates Southwest 55t.h Avenue Road between Flagler Street and Southwest 57th Avenue, Miami, Florida, as "HOWARD F. ANDERSON WAY". Section 3. The City Manager is hereby instructed to direct the Director of the Public Works Department to transmit a copy of this resolution to the Police Department, Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department, Department of General Services Administration/Solid Waste, Dade County Public Works Department and United States Postal Service. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of May 1991. s XAVIER L.
