Dear Mr. Odio:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your
office for extending professional courtesy to the Puerto Rican
Cultural Foundation's request for last year's first Cultural Parade.
In this regard, we are requesting a personal appearance as soon as
possible for the City Corrmission, to request waivers for the street
banner permit fee, restriction of retail peddlers and authorization
to use Biscayne Boulevard in connection with the 2nd Annual Puerto
Rican Cultural Parade, scheduled for Sunday, November 17, 1991.
The Parade will begin at 11:00 a.m., from Biscayne Boulevard (near
the Intercontinental Hotel) until N.E. 4th Street, returning to
Bayfront Park, at which time the Cultural Festival will begin at
1:00 P.M.
The Puerto Rican Cultural Foundation is dedicated to developing,
sponsoring and promoting cultural events in furtherance of the Puerto
Rican and hispanic culture. As you know, the historical Puerto Rican
cultural activities are held during the month of November to ccmne l-
morate the discovery of Puerto Rico on November 19, 1493. In this
respect, last year's (1990) activities met certain difficulties and
because of this, the contracted producer (Edna Martinez) is no longer
with us.
The Puerto Rican Cultural Foundation recognizes the leadership
role you have taken with respect to your responsibilities as City
Manager.and with regards to the goals of the Foundation.
