Resolution for a Commitment of
Funds to the ASPIRA Program
It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution authorizing the
commitment of funds to the ASPIRA Program, in an amount not to
exceed $15,000, from tha Law Enforcement Trust Fund, be approved.
The Police Department recognizes that the majority of crime
committed today is committed by repeat offenders. Forty percent
of first time youth offenders experience a repeat contact with
the juvenile justice system. Many of these repeat offenders
eventually drop out of high school and continue with a life of
crime. ASPIRA offers a program designed to identify youth
exhibiting high risk behavior and to divert them into prevention
and intervention services. These funds are designated to target
the Wynwood area.
It is, therefore, recommended that a Resolution authorizing the
commitment of funds to the ASPIRA Program, in an amount not to
exceed $15,000, be approved. Funding is to be from the Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code No.
029002-247.
